Set up filters

Where filter values come from, turning filters on, ordering them, editing values and limiting filters to certain collections.

Findora is in development. These docs describe the app as it is being built; details can change before it is listed on the Shopify App Store.

Findora discovers filters from your catalog. You decide which are shown, in what order, how each looks, and on which collections.

Filter sources

Source Example
Product option Size, Colour, Material
Product metafield Fabric, Fit, Season
Variant metafield Width, Length per variant
Tag Organic, New in
Vendor Brand names
Product type Shirts, Shoes
Collection Sale, Summer
Price A range
Availability In stock, out of stock

There is no cap on the number of filters or metafield filters.

Turn filters on and order them

On the Filters screen, turn each discovered filter on or off and drag them into the order shoppers should see. Give a filter a clearer label if its source name is technical.

Values

For each filter you can:

  • Order values by hand, rather than alphabetically.
  • Rename values (aliasing). The value in your catalog stays as it is; shoppers see your label.
  • Hide values that should not appear.

Whether shoppers see counts next to values, and whether empty values are hidden, is set under Appearance.

Variant-level matching

A product matches only when one of its variants fits every applied filter. A shopper filtering for Blue and M sees products that have a blue M in stock, not products that are blue in some size and M in some colour.

Limit a filter to certain collections

By default a filter shows on every collection. Add collection scopes to show it only where it makes sense, for example Size on clothing and not on gift cards.
